This Alouette II you can find inside the „Army Aviation Room” of the Helicopter Museum. It is designated for our visitors to take a seat in a “real” helicopter.

The German “Army Aviation” allowing with their helicopters, airmobile guidance , reconnaissance, combat and mission support including the airmobile personnel, wounded and material transport. Army Aviation supports all branches of the Army , as well as other areas of the “Bundeswehr”. Army also contribute to the special operations forces of the Army. With their airmobiled forces, the Army Aviation is capable of autonomous airmobiled activities in and out of the ground-level air over enemy occupied territory . An important element of air mechanization and air mobility of the army is the “Division Fast Forces”, acting in the Army Aviation and infantry closely . The rapid succession of fire fighting (including anti-aircraft and anti-tank hunting ) and the transport of infantry, materials and supplies over short or medium distances are the strengths of the Army Aviation that unfold especially in fast-moving operations. Due to their mobility Army Aviation especially is an important factor on the free surgery of the armed forces, particularly in operations in the depth.

The tasks of the Army Aviation include the following:

• Support of the Army : for backup or during battles with on-board weapons
• Antitank : Fighting Battle Tanks
• Search and rescue under combat conditions: search and rescue of downed pilots or allied units behind enemy lines in combat
• Air Combat : Combat with enemy aircraft
• Electronic Warfare : Educate and interfering with the electronics of enemy forces and infrastructure from a helicopter
• Transport: Transport of personnel and material as the inner and outer load
• Enlightenment: Enlightenment in cooperation with other branches
• Artillery observation : target reconnaissance and observation results in cooperation with the artillery
• Connection and management support such as: use as a detector or to set up telecommunication connections over long distances

In emergencies or if its own funds are insufficient, inserts can also be requested by civilian authorities to support, such as forest fires, floods and evacuations.
